DAN to Attend “Revive Your Dive” in Ft. Lauderdale
In a continuing effort to increase diver safety during Florida’s lobster mini-season, Divers Alert Network® (DAN®) will join Tec Clark for the inaugural Revive Your Dive! event in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
Revive Your Dive! is a free one-day event taking place on Sunday, July 25, 2010, at the City of Ft. Lauderdale Aquatic Complex, otherwise known as the Swimming Hall of Fame Pool. Participants will receive a PADI Scuba Review course, a fitness-to-dive consultation with DAN medical staff and a free scuba equipment inspection. Proof of scuba certification is required.
In addition, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission will be on hand to discuss dive flag laws and lobster season rules and regulations.
Each year, thousands of divers travel to South Florida for the mini-season to spend two days catching Caribbean spiny lobster. Since 2005, 27 fatalities have occurred at the event, with seven of them occurring in 2009 alone. The 2010 mini-season will run July 28-29, 2010.
